- The second part of the main quest called Hail to the King is named for the phrase said by Bruce Campbell as Ash from the movie series, Evil Dead.
- Andratha's sixth quest called, Amelia is named after the female companion, Amelia Pond played by Karen Gillan in Doctor Who Season 5.
- Andratha's seventh quest called, Idiot's Lantern is named after an episode of Doctor Who of the same name, Idiot's Lantern, appearing in season two.
- Andratha's ninth quest called, The Process is named after the album of the same name, The Process, by Skinny Puppy.
- The first quest for the Healers of Sunhold is a play on words. As the quest involves a goat, the title Skinny Puppy like the musical group, has been renamed to Skinny Goat.
- The fifth quest for the Healers of Sunhold named A Rat Problem, is a literal reference to the cliched quest in Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion.
- The first quest for the Queen of Lillandril titled Rat Problems, is a literal reference to the cliched quest in Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion.
- The Shimmerene Mages Guild quest titled Dark and Deep is a reference to the phrase said by the Dremora of the game Oblivion.
- The Sunhold quest Beth's Child is a reference to Bethesda Game Studios.
- The side quest The Remnants is a nod to the remaining members of the Enclave in Fallout New Vegas.
- The mountain area north east of the docks in Graddun Springtown has a wolf with the named "Wild Advanced Macroeconomics Bachelor Wolf in Last Semester Wolf College". The wolf's name is a playful jab at the naming conventions of weapons in Fallout 4.
- Kills Many Often of Ebon Stadmont is based off of the character Tin Tin from the 1994 movie, The Crow. One of this characters lines is taken from the movie. "Murderer? Murderer? Let me tell you about murder. It's fun, it's easy, and you gonna learn all about it."
- Old Man is and easter egg character that can be found in the Shimmerene area. He is a treasure trove of cultural references. He has a chance of saying "ooht!" which is what the Sorrows say as a greeting in the Honest Hearts DLC for Fallout New Vegas. "No one needs you. No one wants you." Which is a twist on Grelod the Kind's famous line. "Buzz buzz buzz, go away little fly" is a direct quote from Dulfish gro-Orum from Oblivion. "You're a monster." is a direct quote from Shrek's Gingerbread Man. "そだね", or "Sodane" which was popularized by Noctis Lucis Caelum and his friends in Final Fantasy XV, while played in Japanese, as well the quote "Meah Tadoo!" from Promto. From the game Don't Starve Together's Pigs, "MY SPACE!", and "TOO CLOSE!"
